Suddenly I've realized that it's almost August and the summer is rapidly slipping away. There were some things I wanted to accomplish this summer that just haven't gotten done yet. How about you? Did you have goals and aspirations for 2010? Have you made any progress on them? If not, why not?
Maybe your personal productivity is suffering. I was honored to have been asked to be a guest host on the Kennedy-Mighell Report recently with Dennis Kennedy and Tom Mighell on the Legal Talk Network. The title of the program was Powering Up Your Personal Productivity, and (fittingly), we talked about whether (and how) technology helps or hinders personal productivity. Take some time to listen to the podcast and give us your feedback!
Earlier this week, I had lot of fun doing a tele-seminar with Paramjit Mahli of the SCG Legal PR Network on how analysis paralysis costs lawyers time and money. We identified 10 obstacles that get in the way of lawyers reaching their goals.
Here are some of the obstacles we discussed. (Do any of them look familiar?):
- Failing to have a written plan in place
- Being seduced by "bright, shiny object" syndrome
- Lack of deadlines
- Endless information gathering
- Feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to begin
If you want to listen in on our tele-class and find out about the other obstacles and how we suggest you overcome them, you can download the analysis paralysis audio here - but take action NOW - the link will expire on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
Any other obstacles to productivity or reaching your goals that you identify or wish to discuss, please don't hesitate to join the conversation by leaving a comment!
