The February issue of Law Practice Today is the TECHSHOW issue - previewing everything related to TECHSHOW 2014, to be held in Chicago March 27-29, 2014.
The issue begins with an article from TECHSHOW Chair, Natalie Kelly, giving you some highlights and features, but also explaining why TECHSHOW is a must-attend event. As Natalie says, TECHSHOW really is the proving ground for legal technology.
Next Diane Ebersole talks about the new "How to" track that has been added to TECHSHOW this year. This is a practical track filled with sessions that will provide step by step demonstrations of technology, giving attendees a detailed look into how to use individual technology tools including Prezi (for closing arguments), Facebook, LinkedIn, Dropbox and Evernote, or how to perform certain funtions like creating forms in Word, or implementing a document assembly program for your firm.
For our "How to" session on LinkedIn, Dennis Kennedy and I intend to show you exactly how to maximize your Profile so you reach the referral sources, potential clients and others you want to reach when you network on LinkedIn with a live demonstration of a Profile update. Our article, Fourteen LinkedIn Tips for 2014 gives you a preview of some of what we'll be discussing.
In fact, there will be several sessions covering social media at this year's TECHSHOW, and one of my other co-presenters, Samantha Meinke, has written an article on how you can use images to boost your effectiveness on social media - one of the topics we'll cover in our session on making your content work for you on social media.
Most legal research these days is done on the internet, but for-fee services can get expensive, and clients aren't always willing to absorb those costs. Judy Davis and Carole Levitt show you how to get the most out of available free legal research resources in Internet Legal Research on a Budget.
One of the main reasons to attend TECHSHOW is to find out the latest technology improvements, determine whether they would work for you firm, and find out how you can integrate them into your firm. In Rethinking Law Firm Strategies for an Era of Smart Technology, Rohit Talwar discusses the importance of law firms leaders investing the time and effort to truly understand the potential IT offers to drive efficiency, service and innovation in law firms.
Of course, TECHSHOW isn't just about the educational sessions - networking, meeting vendors and seeing new technology up close and personal are all part of the mix. Hope to see you at TECHSHOW 2014!
