Comment Period Extended for Changes to NY Rules for Lawyer Advertising

September 29, 2006

It’s been confirmed that the comment period for the proposed changes to the NY advertising rules has been extended to November 15. The rules are now scheduled to go into effect on January 15.

To learn more about the rules, you can look at my posts: Proposed Changes to New York’s Rules for Lawyer Advertising and Questions About the Proposed Changes to New York Advertising Rules for Lawyers.

For anyone who hasn’t looked at the rules yet and needs info on where to send their comments, you can look here: http://www.nycourts.gov/rules/proposedamendments.shtml

An article appearing in today’s ABA eJournal quotes a number of familiar names in the blogging world, including Kevin O’Keefe, Dennis Kennedy and Ed Poll, discussing how the rules impact bloggers and particularly solos and small firms who use blogs more than the ‘biglaw’ guys do: http://www.abanet.org/journal/ereport/s29blog.html.
