Value Billing – what is it, and how is it done?

May 18, 2007

I‘m honored to have been asked to do a series of guest posts on Grant Griffiths’ Home Office Lawyer blog on value billing. The first post, which can be found here, discusses the basic definition of value billing and talks about how to set expectations with the client up front.

In Parts II and III of the series, I’ll cover how to determine your fee under a value billing system, how to use options and change orders, and how to use a guarantee. I’ll also give you an overview of the elements of value billing.

Since alternative billing arrangements have been such a hot topic lately, I encourage you to check out the series. Home Office Lawyer also has a ton of great information for solos and those who work at home, so make sure you read Grant’s other posts as well.

Both Grant and I are hoping that this series will create a discussion about value billing and alternative billing methods, so please post your comments.
